Smt. Vidya Wati, 1943; 3 s. and 3 d.; previously associated with Praja Socialist Party; was Deputy Minister of Revenue and Health, Government of Uttar Pradesh twice; Member, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, 1952-62, 1967-74 and 1977-1980; Deputy Speaker and Acting Speaker, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, 1978-80, attended all-World Speakers’ Conference held in Bahamas in September, 1979.

Social activities:  Helped the landless and the poor in getting possession of surplus land; worked for the upliftment of the Harijans and backward classes.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Study of Bhakti literature and agriculture.

Special interests:  Public service and land reforms.

Travels abroad:  Bahamas, Thailand, Japan, Philippines, U.S.A., Canada and U.K.
