General Officer Commanding, Armed Division, 1985-88; Director-General, Combat Vehicles, D.R.D.O., 1988-90; Lt. Gen. G.O.C. 2 Corps, 1990-92 and Lt. Gen.-Deputy Chief of Army Staff, 1992-93; elected twice from Deoria constituency to Lok Sabha; Main area of activity is upliftment of this backward area by improving infrastructure like roads, electrification, schools, drinking water etc.
