INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE
Indian Institute of Science is located at Bangalore. Indian Institute of Science was established in the year 1909 under the join effort of Tata and Maharaja of Mysore. At the establishment, The institute consists of 2 departments and 21 students in the year 1911 .Over the years currently the IISc consists of 39 departments, 3500 students and 500 academic and scientific staff members. The first Indian Director of the University was Sir C.V.Raman and the current director of the university is Anurag Kumar. The Institute is spread over 400 acres of land. The facilities of the University are Wi-Fi enabled campus, six canteens. Multi cuisine restaurant, football ground, basket ball ground, four dining mess, nine men’s and four women’s hostel and two shopping centres.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
For Undergraduate courses
The admission for Indian Institute of Science is done through a Joint Entrance Examination conducted for undergraduate courses. The eligibility is based on the 10 +2 marks scored. The JEE consists of two parts JEE main and JEE advanced. JEE Main is conducted for Indian Institute of Information Technology and JEE advanced is conducted for Indian Institute of Technology for IISc students too. The students who have passed JEE Main are eligible for JEE advanced.
JEE Main exam consists of two papers .Paper I is for B.E/B.Tech courses and Paper II is for B.Arch and B.Planning courses. The paper consists of 30 multiple choice questions. There is negative marking for each wrong answer.
List of documents required for JEE Advanced Application
- Birth certificate or Class X certificate
- Recent color passport sized photograph
- Class XII or its equivalent examination certificate
- Scanned copy of your left-hand thumb impression
- Scanned copy of your full signature
- Genuine category certificate (for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD category)
JEE Advanced
- The Pattern consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2
- Paper I consists of 60 questions with 264 marks
- Paper II consists of 60 questions with 240 marks
- Language of medium will be both English and Hindi
- Main subjects are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
- There will be negative marking for wrong answers
- The questions will be objective type and numerical type questions
- Students are required to use black ball point pen for answering the OMR sheets
For M.E/M.Tech courses
Students are selected through GATE scores
For Ph.D courses
Students are selected through JAM score
