The Foundation stone of Sainik School, Kazhakootam was laid by late Shri Vk Krishna Menon, Minister of Defence, Govt of India on 05 Feb 62. The founder Principal was Lt Col BK Somaiah, Headmaster Sqn Ldr Babu Lal and the Registrar was Capt TVS Nair. During the 50 years of its existence, the school has been providing yeoman service as a feeder institution to the NDA and making public school education accessible to the common man.
Over 4500 students have passed out of the portals of this school and have made their mark in various walks of life. It is a matter of pride that approximately 850 Kazhaks have joined the armed forces. The school has won the “Defence Ministers Trophy” for the highest intake to the NDA five times. The school also has the consistent record of achieving excellent performance in CBSE Board Examinations. The School has achieved 100% results in class XII and class X board exams in the recent years and is always ranked among the top Sainik Schools
