SAINIK SCHOOL BHUBANESWAR
HISTORY – Sainik School Bhubaneswar was started by Late Shri Biju Patnaik, the then Chief Minister of Odisha on 01 Feb 1962 in an ad-hoc Govt. Accommodation. The new Building and Infrastructure was brought up within two years and was inaugurated by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on 08 Jan 1964.
LOCATION – Sainik School Bhubaneswar is located in the Capital City of Odisha and well connected with Rail, Road and Air. The distance of the School from Air Port is about 10 Kms and from Railway Station it is only 08 Kms. The climate is temperate like any other coastal city of India. Bhubaneswar is also known as City of Temples.
SCHOOL CAMPUS – The Sprawling Campus spread over an area of more than 200 Acres is a self contained modern unit. The School has sufficient Playgrounds, Firing Range, spacious Classrooms, Indoor Auditorium, well stocked Library, Computer Labs, Smart Classrooms, Laboratories, Hobby Clubs, Obstacle Course, Horse riding club, Gymnasium and Swimming Pool. The cadets are housed in 11 spacious Houses.
DINING FACILITIES – The School has a huge Dining Hall “ANNAPURNA” backed by equally large pantry, cook house, ration store and bakery. It has modern cooking facilities.
MEDICAL FACILITIES – The School has a 12 bedded Infirmary to cater for the medical needs of the Cadets.
MARKET COMPLEX – The School has a full-fledged Market Complex having facilities of Post Office, PCO, Cyber Café, Police Out Post, Wet Canteen and CSD Canteen.
NCC – NCC being an integral part of Cadets Training is conducted on regular basis under the aegis of the NCC Group HQ, Cuttack. The NCC Contingents and the School Band feature every year in the Republic Day and Independence Day State Parade.
OLD BOYS ASSOCIATION – The School has a very active Old Boys Association to contribute constructively towards the facility development of the School. A Martyrs Memorial is also constructed by the OBA to keep the flame of supreme sacrifice burning by the cadets of this school.
