Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Sadak Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Sadak Yojana is all set to be launched by the Ministry of Road Transport
and Highways. The scheme is basically an initiative to make the roads safer by eliminating the
dangerous spots on highways.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Sadak Yojana, the central government will eliminate dangerous
sites where accidents occur more frequently by using the better design and road engineering.
Government will also set up railings on hill roads running along deep gorges.
According to WHO, more than 231,000 people are killed in India in road accidents every year. The
government aims of halving this number by the year 2020. The Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Sadak
Yojana is also a part of this initiative.
