About University
Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi is established in 1920 under the British government rule. In the year 1988 it got status of Central University by the act of Indian Parliament. In Urdu language the word “Jamia” means university and “Millia” means national. The university offers education in large number of fields from undergraduate to doctoral courses in various fields of science, arts, engineering, management, law, medical, commerce, nursing and foreign languages. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology was established in 1985 with the objective to provide outstanding engineering education directed at enriching the quality of life in an emerging knowledge-based society. The mission of the Faculty is to graduate morally conscious and highly competent engineers, conduct internationally recognized research, and provide quality professional and community services. The Faculty operates as an administrative unit within the University and thus is home to over 3000 students and over 200 academic, administrative and technical staff. At present, there are six departments in the Faculty –civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and communication, and computer engineering, and applied sciences and humanities. Undergraduate program leading to B. Tech. are offered in civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and communications, and computer engineering. The Faculty has a continuing education programs for in-service engineers leading to B. E. degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, electronics and communications, and computer engineering. All courses of the Faculty are duly approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, and the medium of instruction is English for all the courses.

Placement and Training:
Jamia Millia Islamia University engineering department maintains a good placement record. Top recruiter comes to its campus to provide job opportunity. Average salary range falls between 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs. To achieve a better placement record Jamia Millia Islamia University has created a separate branch for training and placement. There is an institutionalized mechanism for the training and placement of the students of various courses. There is a provision of one faculty teacher coordinator in each faculty and one department teacher coordinator in each department. Students’ placement committees work for campus placement activities for various courses. Regular meetings organize with the coordinators to discuss the progress and strategy for betterment of campus placement. The student coordinators in consultation with teachers prepare brochures and send invitations to companies under the guidance of Training and Placement Office and keep a constant follow up with the company till it visits the campus. Placement cell organizes various sessions on career development, resume writing, mock interview, aptitude test workshops, career fairs, pre-placement training and on generic issues for the overall development of students. The alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia are well placed in Industry, Govt. Organizations, Research Labs, Academic Institutions, Defence Services, All India Services, State Services, Media, Film & TV Industry, Sports and Politics in India and abroad.

Admission criteria:
Admission to B.Tech & B.Arch. programs of Jamia Millia Islamia is based on JEE Main ranking. A student can be considered as eligible if the candidate appears JEE Main entrnace test.
