The Institution:
The Amrita School of Medicine is affiliated to Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. It was founded during the year 2002 by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi known as Amma. This school of medicine is situated at Kochi with good infrastructure and has AIMS hospital within it’s campus. The school is inspired by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi best known for spiritualism and service to mankind. She is chancellor to the Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham.The Amrita School of Medicine has achieved academic excellence by providing world-class medical training as well as a training of humanity. Admission to MBBS and BDS course is done solely on the basis of Amrita Medical Entrance Exam.
MBBS / BDS Admission:
There are 100 seats in MBBS and 60 seats in BDS and admission into these seats are based on the performance of the candidates in Amrita Medical Entrance Exam 2014. The duration of the course is four and half years plus one year residential internship. The eligibility for both these courses are as follows:
1. Educational Qualification: Pass in Plus Two or equivalent in the first attempt from a recognized Board or University with a minimum of 60% marks in Physics,Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together and 60 % marks in English.For SC/ST candidates minimum marks required is 50%.
2. Age Limit: Minimum of 17 years and a maximum of 23 years as on 31st December 2014 as per records.
Amrita Medical Entrance Syllabus & Exam Pattern:
The syllabus for the entrance exam is based on CBSE 10+2. For MBBS / BDS there is one common entrance and the questions will come in the following pattern:
Physics: 25 Questions
Chemistry: 35 Questions
Biology/Biotechnology: 70 Questions
English: 10 Questions
General Knowledge: 10 Questions
Total questions: 150 Questions
The duration of the test is 150 minutes within which the candidates have to finish their paper before submission. Test will be objective type. Each Multiple Choice Questions will consist of four options having one correct answer and for each correct response one mark will be awarded .

Amrita Medical Entrance Application Procedure:
For MBBS and BDS the application is to be made online through their OARS portal. You need to create a new user registration at their OARS portal before proceeding to apply online. A detailed instruction is available in the below linked pdf. You should be carefully go through the instructions issued for filling up online application. The payment of exam fees also to be done only through online modes like Online Banking, Debit card, credit card, etc.

Amrita Medical Entrance Selection Procedure & Management Quota:
Selection of candidates is on the basis of the rank secured in the Amrita Medical Entrance Test. Candidates will be called for counseling on the basis of the rank they secured. Candidates will have the option to select a course according to his/her merit in the rank list and his/her choice. Where mode of selection is interview, plus two marks and performance in the personal interviews, will decide the allotment of seats.
Management Quota:
For some of the courses and specialties few seats are available under management quota. Those interested in such seat should specifically indicate their option in the application form. Candidates opting for Merit seats can also indicate their choice for Management seat if they so wish.
