fighter and mother Smt. Damyanti Devi and  his teacher Late Shri 
Palakdhari Singh, participated in Freedom Struggle from early 
childhood; arrest  warrants  were  issued  against him  and his elder 
brother  Shri Chandra Bhanu Mehta during the Quit India movement, 1942;
came in contact with Late Shri Karpoori Thakur and assisted the 'Azad 
Dasta' along with  his  elder brother and  helped  Shri Vashishta 
Narayan Singh, a  revolutionary, in  seeking  shelter  after his 
escape from  Darbhanga Jail; Member, (i)Indian National Congress
till 1949; (ii) Socialist Party, Praja Socialist Party and Samyukta
Socialist Party, since 1949; (iii) Janata Party, 1977-79 and
1982; and (iv) Lok Dal, 1980; Technical Assistant, Gandak Project, 
1958-61; Assistant Professor, B.I.T., Ranchi, 1961-74; Registrar, 
B.I.T., 1974-75; retired as Professor from the B.I.T. in 1992
