SINGH, SHRI BANSH NARAIN, J.S., (Uttar Pradesh—Mirzapur—1967): s. of Shri Bhavani Prasad Singh; b. at Vill. Darunaha, Distt. Varanasi January 1, 1901; ed. at Shri. Vibhuti Narayan Inter College, Gyanpur and D.A.V. Inter College, Allahabad; m. Shrimati Tapes war Devi, 1914; 1 S. and 1 D.: Political; and Social worker; previously associated with the Indian National Congress; took active part in the freedom movement and suffered imprisonment on a number of occasion remained underground for a considerable period during the 1942 movement; Education Minister, Banaras State (pre-independence); Member, U.P. Legislative Assembly, 1952—57; Member, sarvodaya Abhiyan, Krishak Kutir Udyog, Bhadohi, Varanasi.
Special interests: Social welfare, rural uplift agriculture.
Travels abroad: Hong Kong and Burma.
