Social activities:  General Secretary and President of many students’ Unions during student days; started several Scheduled Caste hostels and nursery, primary and High Schools; promoting a cement industry project purely by labour participation and other programmes, including co-operative institutions at Taluk level in Karnataka State; formed District and Taluka, associations of the weaker sections of the community in various States; organised Stone-cutters and Earth-Diggers Cooperative-Societies in several districts and talukas.  

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Social work, Films, Dance and Sports.  

Special interests:  Music and Drama.  

Travels abroad:  Russia.
