Smt. Indira Thakur, 1942; 3 s. and 3 d.; agriculturist and Advocate; Vice-President District Congress Committee, 1956 and since 1976; President, District Primary Teachers’ Union 1953-54; Vice-Chairman, District Development Board, Bhandara, and Honorary-Secretary, Divisional Development Council, Nagpur, 1958—61; Member, Nagpur University Court, 1965— 70; Director, (i) Forest Development Corporation, 1975-76, (ii) District Central Cooperative Bank, Bhandara, since 1973; Member, Command Area Development Authority, since 1974; President, Zila Parishad, Bhandara 1962—71; Member, Madhya  Pradesh  Legislative Assembly, 1952-57;  Member, Executive  Committee, Congress  Legislative Party; Member, Fifth Lok Sabha; 1971-77.

Social activities:  Was running a hostel for students at Bhandara rural area from 1947 to 1952; as a result of his resolution in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1956, the Government granted freeship upto Matric to the children of agriculturists having less than 20 acres of land.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Reading and Gardening.

Special interests:  Agricultural and rural development.

Sports and clubs:  Hockey, football, Indian games— Hututu and Kho-Kho.
