Gayatri Devi, June 1959; 5 s. and 4 d.; Agriculturist; associated with the Congress since 1942; took active part in the freedom struggle of 1942 and in the 1948 movement against the Nizam’s regime; participated in Hindi Anaolan in Punjab, 1957 and was sentenced for three months; took part in the Telangana Agitation and was imprisoned for five months; Chairman, (i) Gavdan Bodh Vachanalaya, (ii) Old City Depressed Class Association, and (iii) Shastripur Cooperative Society; President, Navabharat Youth Association; Treasurer, Andhra Pradesh Dalit Jati Sangh; Municipal Councillor, Hyderabad, 1960-70; Member, Standing Committee, Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad, for four years; Deputy Chairman of Works Octroi Committee, Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad; Member, Fifth Lok Sabha, 1971—77; Delegate to the All-India Congress Committee, 1969; attended the Municipal Councillors’ Conference in Kerala.
