Babuben; 1937 (early age) 3 s. and 3 d.; Industrial Worker, Worker teacher, Ahmedabad Electricity Company, Sabarmati, coaching workers and Trade Apprentices, was Personal Secretary to the late Shri Parikshithil Majumdar, who was looking after the work of the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi and the welfare of Harijans; previously associated with Congress (O); Secretary, Ahmedabad District Congress (O) Committee, 1964—69; was Section Leader, Homeguard Unit, Sabarmati Centre for 17 years; Chairman, (i) Shri Morarji Nagar Cooperative Housing Society for 12 years in Sabarmati and (ii) District Cooperative Bank, Sabarmati Branch; Vice-President Ahmedabad District Industrial Cooperative Associaton; Secretary Government Hostel, Sabarmati; Director, Ahmedabad Industrial Cooperative (Handloom) Association Ltd., 1968—72 and since then its Vice-President; Honorary Second Class Magistrate for Ahmedabad District, 1969—74; Member, (i) Education Committee, Ahmedabad District School Board, 1952—64, (ii) State Transport Board for Ahmedabad Division and (iii) Social Welfare Board, Gujarat; presently Member (i) Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and (ii) Committee on Absence of Members;
Social activities: Working for the last 30 years amongst depressed and backward classes for betterment of their lives socially and economically by giving good education to the Harijan students; consistently fighting for the rights of industrial workers and trying to solve their problems.
Favourite pastime and recreation: Spinning and reading of religions books.
Special interests: Social work, cooperatives, labour welfare, art and painting.
Sports and clubs: Indoor games, morning walks.
