Matore, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, January 24, 1914; ed. at Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College, Dehra Dun and Indian Military College, Dehra Dun; m. Shrimati Karim Jan, August 20, 1940; 3 s. and 2 d.; Agriculturist; Commissioned, February, 1936; joined the Indian National Army under Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and rose to the rank of the Maj-General in 1945; appointed G.O.C., Congress Seva Dal in 1946; Member, (i) First Lok Sabha, 1952-57, (ii) Second Lok Sabha, 1957-62 and (iii) Third Lok Sabha, 1962-67; Chairman, National Seeds Corporation Ltd., June 1968-January, 1971 & concurrently was the Chairman, Food Corporation of India, December 1968-January, 1971; appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Steel and Mines in May, 1971.
