Shrimati Chandrakala Devi, July 13, 1954; 4 s. and 2 d.; Agriculturist; previously associated with the Congress Socialist Party, Socialist Party and Praja Socialist Party; participated in the freedom movement and imprisoned on a number of occasions; took underground training in guerilla fighting against the British rule; worked for abolition of Zamindari; Ex-Secretary, (i) Saharsa Zila Kisan Sabha; (2) Bihar State Kisan Sabha (3) Saharsa Zila Socialist Party; President, District Depressed Classes League, Saharsa; Member, Bihar Legislative Assembly 1957-62; Member, Third Lok Sabha, 1962-67 and Fourth Lok Sabha 1967-70.

Social activities.—Associated with Pustakalaya Movement, cooperatives and panchayat; interested in removal of untouchability and other social disparities and extension of education.
