KOLKATA: A 27-year-old private bank executive was arrested for allegedly posting obscene photographs of his former girlfriend on social media, after she allegedly wanted to move out of the relationship.
Deep Narayan Gupta, an original resident of Durgapur who had been staying at a rented apartment at Baguiati was picked up from his home by cops based on a complaint lodged by the woman, a third year college student from Salt Lake on Tuesday night.
Police said, the woman alleged that Gupta posted some of her obscene photographs that was with Gupta when they were in a relationship on her Facebook profile, whose password Gupta possibly knew. “Apart from posting the photographs on Facebook, Gupta had also sent some of the photographs to her father and other relatives’ Whatsapp numbers. The woman said the two were in a relation for past few months during which she had shared some of her private photographs with Gupta. When the woman wanted to move out of the relation, the man was unwilling to let her go. But when the woman refused to hear his pleas and went ahead breaking up, he shared the photographs,” said a senior officer of Bidhannagar Commissionerate.
Acting on the woman’s complaint, police charged Gupta under IPC sections 354D (stalking), 500 (defamation), 507 (criminal intimidation), 509 (molestation) and 67A (publisihing materials containing sexually explicit materials).
