Kolkata: Five NE militants held; Rs 34L, fake notes seized | Kolkata News

KOLKATA: Five persons from Assam and Manipur, with alleged links with a northeast militant outfit, were arrested in Kolkata and Howrah with more than Rs 34 lakh in cash and fake Rs2,000 notes with a face value of Rs 1,50,000.
According to police, the five were members of Zoliangrong United Front (ZUF), an armed organisation operating in the Nagaland-Manipur border.
Police said they had recently abducted Abhijit Dhar, a project manager working with a private firm in Manipur and extorted around Rs 34 lakh. The cops arrested Isaulang Raime (29) of Assam from Esplanade on Thursday with the fake notes and after interrogating him, conducted a raid in Howrah’s Golabari, from where the four others were arrested and the money was recovered.
