Anu, who has also joined politics, was busy with some political engagements during the day. “My husband stays in Mumbai. As I belong to Odisha and Bhubaneswar is my place of work, I celebrated the festival here. Hadn’t I been busy with work, I’d have definitely gone to Mumbai to celebrate there. I also had some prior commitments. So, I just followed the rituals at home,” said the veteran actress, who has been active in the Odia film industry for over two decades and has worked in Telugu, Bengali and Hindi films.
The actress said she used to follow all the rituals of the vrat earlier. But after her an illness, she has been cautious in observing fasts. “I had to consume milk and fruits throughout the day. In the evening, I had a puja and then made a video call to my husband before ending the fast,” Anu said.
She told us that she was also busy on the Gaja Laxmi Puja and Kumar Purnima festival recently, as she was campaigning for her party candidate in the by-election for Bijepur Assembly constituency. “Even during Laxmi Puja, I was away from home and couldn’t celebrate the festival,” the actress signed off.
