KENDRAPADA: Two men were detained on Wednesday in Kendrapada district for the gang-rape of a 14-year-old school girl on Sunday night under Aul police station limits.
“Acting on the complaint filed by the survivor’s father, we launched an investigation and detained the accused – Suryakanta Das and Suresh Behera,” said sub-divisional police officer (SDPO, Pattamundai), Ranjan De.
The minor girl was raped by the miscreants when she had gone out in the open to relieve herself on Sunday night. The girl, who is studying in Class IX, went and narrated the incident to her mother on the same night. The minor’s father stays away for work.
After getting to know about the incident from the mother, her father immediately rushed to the village on Tuesday and registered a complaint with Aul police station, stating that her daughter was raped by the accused.
During the interrogation, both the accused confessed to the crime, police said. The accused had grabbed her and took her to a lonely place where they took turns to rape her, police added. The survivor and the accused were taken to government hospital in Kendrapada for medical examination, the SDPO added.
