BHUBANESWAR: In the run up to the third Make in Odisha conclave, state’s biennial investors summit, the state government on Tuesday held a roadshow in New Delhi to showcase the investment opportunities in Odisha in the information technology (IT) and electronics system and design manufacturing (ESDM) sector.
State IT minister Tusharkanti Behera, IT secretary Manoj Mishra and senior officials attended the roadshow, which was attended by over a dozen of senior executives from top IT firms of the country.
“The purpose of the roadshow was to showcase the investment ecosystem and opportunities in Odisha. The discussions were very positive. Many companies have evinced interest to visit Odisha to explore the opportunities,” said Anubhav Patnaik, advisor, electronics and information and technology department, who had also attended the roadshow.
Electronics manufacturing is one of the six priority sectors of the state government. Though the capital city is home to four major IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro and Tech Mahindra, the state government plans to rope in some other global IT players through investor-friendly policies, incentives and infrastructure.
The state government has developed IT specific investment clusters to facilitate infrastructure to the investors in a hassle-free manner. An electronic manufacturing cluster is also being developed near the city to attract investment in ESDM sector.
State industries department sources said similar roadshows will be organized in different parts of the country on various other focus sectors. The third edition of the Make in Odisha conclave is planned from November 30th to December 4th, this year.
