JALANDHAR- As many as 15 contingents of paramilitary forces, Punjab Police, Home Guards, NCC, Scouts and Guides would participate during the impressive parade to mark the Republic Day celebrations here on January 26 at the local Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, this year.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma while presiding over a meeting to finalize the details for the parade, said that the district would uphold the glorious tradition of organizing the best Republic Day parade across the state.
He said that during parade the contingents of CRPF, Punjab Police, Punjab Home Guards, National Cadet Corps, Scout and girl Guides along with others would rub shoulders with each other.
Likewise, Sharma said that bands of CRPF and Indian Army would add zing to the festivities of Republic Day.
It was also decided in the meeting that the rehearsals for this march past and parade would be held from January 20 onwards and the full dress rehearsal would be conducted on January 24.
The Deputy Commissioner also asked the Health department to deploy medical teams during the rehearsal and Republic Day celebrations to provide quick assistance to the participants in case of any emergency.
He also said that elaborate arrangements would be made providing the facility of potable drinking water and medical facilities to the participants and students during this mega event.
The Deputy Commissioner said that requisite arrangements would be made for traffic diversion, parking of vehicles, security arrangements and other facilities during Republic Day function. He asked every officer to make the sure smooth conduct of affairs during the function.
He directed the Municipal Corporation to ensure proper cleanliness around the venue of the function. He also asked District Mandi Officer to ensure the availability of the drinking water in the mega event. Further, he asked health department to depute Medical teams along with medicines and permanent Ambulance to facilitate the people during the event.
DC also asked the PSPCL to ensure the supplying uninterrupted power during the Republic Day Celebrations.
Sharma also said that every officer must ensure that people participating in this function should not face any kind of problem.
