18806 beneficiaries provided free wheat and pulses under PMGKAY


Food and civil supplies department distributes 2820.90 quintal of wheat and 154.05 quintal of pulses

 JALANDHAR: The district administration on Saturday supplied wheat and pulses to 18806 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojna (PMGKAY).

Providing further information, District Food and Supply Controller Narinder Singh said that on the directions of the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, the department on Saturday provided wheat and pulses to 18806 eligible beneficiaries under PMGKAY in various localities of Jalandhar. 

He said that the department today provided 2820.90 quintals of wheat and 154.05 quintals of pulses to them.

Narinder Singh said that the government has decided to give 5 kilogram of wheat per beneficiary per month for three months and one kilogram pulses per family per month for three months.

District Food and Civil Supplies Controller said that free distribution of Wheat @ 15 Kg per member of family and Daal @ 3kg only for full family (irrespective of number of family members) was being ensured through depot holders of food department to all smart card holders.

He said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed to ensure that no person, especially any poor family, suffers on account of non-availability of food grains due to lockdown.

Narinder Singh said that no stone would be left unturned for extending a relief to people in this hour of severe crisis.
