Commissionerate police issue 25054 traffic challans, impound 1649 vehicles, arrest 1211 people Since March 23
Jalandhar- Continuing its drive against the people who were violating the orders of the Punjab Government by not wearing the masks and spitting at public places, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Wednesday challaned 105 people without masks and six for spitting at public places besides imposed the fine of Rs 21600.
Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said in order to check the spread of Corona Virus in the state, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had made it mandatory for everyone to wear masks before stepping out of their home and had banned the spitting at the public places to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
He said that in today’s drive, 105 challans were issued against the people who were found without masks and six against those who were found spitting at the public places.
He said that Rs 200 as fine was imposed on the people without mask and Rs 100 on the people who were found spitting at the public places and Rs 21600 was collected by the teams.
He said that this drive would continue in the coming days and action would be taken against the violators.
Meanwhile, he told that Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has issued 25054 challans to the violators of the traffic norms and impounded 1649 vehicles, arrested 1211 persons besides registered 979 FIRs ever since March 23.
He added that the people have to play a vanguard role for further checking the spread of COVID 19.
Bhullar told it is the social responsibility of the residents to ensure the following the directives of the government to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
