Organizes special stall on the route of temple
JALANDHAR: As huge crowd converged for paying obeisance at Sri Sidh Baba Sodal temple at the annual fair today, the District administration took a unique initiative to people aware about the ongoing Electors Verification Program (EVP) in the district.
On the directions of Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, the team of district administration led by Election Tehsildar Manjit Singh and Election Kanungo Rakesh Kumar installed a special stall near the post office in New grain market to apprise the people about this program. They apprised the people that under the ongoing EVP, the voters could assess electoral roll details through voters helpline mobile app, www.NVSP.in or could call 1950.
They said that the basic idea behind launching this campaign was to empower voters to self-authenticate the details in electoral rolls and weed out mistakes, if any. They said that the citizens could authenticate existing details relating to voter verification, by giving a copy of one of the following documents including Indian Passport, Driving Licence, Aadhar, Ration Card or other document approved by the commission.
They said that EVP would help in improving the health of electoral rolls and enrolment of all eligible citizens during special summary revision 2020 by verification or authentication of electors’ details. They said that house to house verification would also be carried out by BLOs where they would verify information/ details collected from citizen and would also collect information/ details of un-enrolled/dead/shifted electors till September 30.
