Voluntarily manage paddy stubble, in situ management of paddy stubble
My village, my pride: youth clubs are torch bearers of the society, DC
MANSA: The activities being conducted in ongoing inter youth club competitions under My Village, My Pride are proving to be a boon for the paddy farmers whose paddy stubble is being managed without burning voluntarily by the club members.
Deputy Commissioner Mansa Apneet Riyait said that the youth clubs are doing commendable work in conducting in situ management of paddy stubble and thereby saving environment. She said that the youth clubs are torch bearers of nation and in Mansa the ongoing My Village, My Pride competition has prompted these clubs to work harder for cause of people.
The Great Thinkers Club Burj Dhilwan has so far prevented paddy stubble from going up in smoke in 145 acres of land. The president of club Parwinder Singh owns baler machine, which is being provided to paddy cultivators free of cost to make bundles of paddy stubble. Office bearer Harpreet Singh said the volunteers of youth club helps farmers in making these bundles and getting them loaded. The youth club has managed stubble in fields of Balraj Singh, Gurtej Singh, Bhola Singh, Gurtej Singh, Uggar Singh and Mithu Singh, Parwinder Singh and Buta Singh of village Burj Dhilwan and in fields of Bhagwant Singh and Darshan Singh of village Burj Rathi.
Besides this, the youth clubs are also holding rally with the school children and interacting with the farmers encouraging them not to burn paddy stubble. Similarly, Umeed Social and Welfare Society Club Borawal held a rally to create awareness on the issue. The club also helped farmer Leela Singh manage stubble in 3 acres of his land by harvesting the crop by hand and selling its stubble at Rs 70 per quintal. Farmers are being motivated to use Happy Seeder for directly sowing the wheat seed into stubble. Azad Soch Welfare Society Burj Rathi member Bhagwant Singh managed stubble in his 8 acres of land without burning.
Meanwhile, Naujawan Welfare Club tended the Guru Nanak Jungle at Khokhar Gaushala and also fed the animals. The Great Thinkers Club Burj Dhilwan conducted morning walk promoting good health practices and installed reflectors on the roadside electricity poles to make them visible during times of fog.
Similarly, continuing with Good Samaritan works, the Lok Bhalai Youth Club village village Khiwa Miyan Singh Wala has created a smart class room at local government school in association with the head teacher Amandeep Singh. The club also cleaned the premises of government school. Shaheed Udham Singh Lok Bhalai Club white washed the barks of tree of Government Middle School Lakhmir Singh Wala. At Burj Dhilwan Bhai Kanhaiya Club cleaned the premises of government school painted the bricks installed on path to the village park. The village sarpanch too helped club in this activity.
Azad Soch Welfare Club also conducted cleaning of the volleyball grounds. At village Borawal, the Umeed Social and Welfare Club cleaned toilets and have started work on laying a park. Shaheed Nachhattar Singh Yuvak Bhalai Club Gehle motivated youngsters by installing volleyball net. Babab Chetan Ram Sports and Yuvak Sewawan Club Dalelwala held seventh eye check up and operation camp wherein patients were also given free medicines. Umeed Club village Ralli held a blood donation camp.
