Says action to be taken against those organising functions by installing tents on roads
Ludhiana: To ensure smooth flow of traffic on city roads in view of the festival season, the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana has decided to take strict legal action against shopkeepers who encroach upon roads in front of their shops for selling goods and those who organise functions by installing tents on roads.
MC Commissioner Kanwal Preet Kaur Brar informed that it has been observed that during the festival season, some shopkeepers encroach roads outside their shops for selling goods and some of them even install tents for the same purpose. She said that such acts lead to traffic congestion in the area. She stated that some residents also install tents on the roads for organising functions.
Brar informed that the MC has decided that any shopkeeper or city resident who indulges in these acts, his goods would not only be confiscated, but heavy fine would also be imposed. She has appealed to the city residents to not encroach or block roads and warned that if any of them suffer any damage, it would be their own responsibility.
