Punjab students union and others protest outside mini secretariat demanding justice in the sexual harassment case of a woman doctor in GGS medical college Faridkot
Faridkot: Many protesters of Zabar Virodhi action committee , including the members of Punjab students union on Saturday tried to stage a protest on the premises of the mini secretariat in Faridkot outside the office of the deputy commissioner, but were stopped by the police outside the gate. Then they started their protest outside the gate of the mini secretariat.
The protesters were demanding justice for a woman doctor(medical officer) who had complained to the police and civil administration months back that she was being sexually harassed by the head of the department since 2016 after she was selected for the post graduate course for community medicine in Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Faridkot.
The protesters alleged that the woman was not getting justice in the case as the inquiry being held by the ADC Faridkot was too slow to reach a conclusion.
But on the other hand,Addittional deputy commissioner Faridkot, Paramjeet Kaur, who was deputed by the deputy commissioner Faridkot to hold an inquiry in the case, said that the inquiry was going on and it would be competed in days to come.
The woman doctor alleged that when she had completed her postgraduate course in 2019 and wanted to apply for the post of tutor in the same college against some vacant post, she needed the recommendation her HoD who called her to his home and made sexual and unacceptable gestures.
She said that the doctor had been harassing her on some or other pretext during all the the three years but she did not succumb to her tactics.
But the Head of the department of community medicine who has been accused by the woman has denied all allegation as baseless and false.
