Institution of Engineers Exam

Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers Exam is engineering entrance exam conducted by Central Government, State Government and By Union Public Service Commission for Diploma and Engineering candidates. The exam is held twice in a year for candidates seeking degree in Engineering without college and attendance and less expensive compared to other engineering colleges. Eligibility

Candidate who have completed 10th and 12th with physics, chemistry and Mathematics as the subjects with minimum 45% aggregate for all subjects. Candidate who have passed 3 year diploma course from a recognized University/Institution are eligible to apply. There is no mark restriction for diploma holders. The candidate with Automobile Engineering as main in diploma can pursue any other stream like information Technology in AMIE.

Syllabus

The syllabus is somewhat similar to Engineering syllabus. The candidates have to attend two sections. The students who have completed or passed all subjects in Section A can attend the Section B. Section A is just fundamentals of Engineering while Section B gives more knowledge about the stream. Diploma holders have to study 4 subjects in Section A while others have to study 10 subjects in Section A which are all compulsory subjects. Section B candidate have to pass in 9 subjects for both diploma and non diploma holders. The candidate have to do lab experiments and project work.

Exam Pattern

The exam paper is of written type. The time duration is of three hours. The lab and project work papers, the candidate have to attend viva. Registered candidate are alone subjected to write the exam. There is time limit for the completion of papers in both sections which is 6 years. The candidate can pass the papers as early as possible. No extension is provided to candidate. If they are not able to pass within the stipulated time, they have to start as afresh candidate to complete all the exams including the papers they have already completed. The marks will be calculated only based on the project work and lab practical along with Section B subjects.

  • Download the application form
  • Fill all the mandatory details by the candidate himself or herself
  • Attach the photo of the candidate
  • Select the examination centre and code
  • Change in examination centre is not advisable
  • Payment must be made by Demand Draft in favour of The Institution of Engineers payable at Kolkata
  • Candidate whose name id not available at List of Candidates are not allowed to attend the examination
  • The candidate has to submit the following documents along with the application
  • Original and Attested copies of mark sheets and certificates
  • Proof of Date of Birth
  • Provisional Pass Certificate
