Shrimati Usharani, February 1922; 1 S. and 3 D.; Medical Practitioner; Member, Bengal Council of Medical Registration 1932—42; Member, State Medical Faculty, Bengal; Examiner, State Medical Faculty, Bengal; Formerly Professor and Superintendent, Bankura Medical School and Hospital; Obstetrician and gynaecologist of the same hospital for 20 years; Member, Second Lok Sabha, 1957—62.

Social activities:  Helped in the building up of the Bankura Sammilani Medical School and Hospital, the ‘Gowripur Leper Colony’, and a Maternity and Child Welfare Clinic at Bankura; assisted in the promotion of education by the construction, out of private funds, of buildings for a High School in his native village.

Accomplishments in letters, art and science:  Hony. Fellow of the State Medical Faculty of Bengal (1940).

Hobbies:  Agriculture, Dairying and Poultry Farming.
