his family was forced to leave the Valley and shift to Delhi; his movable and 
immovable property was taken over by the militants, organised the first public 
meeting at Chandoosa which was a turning point for bringing normalcy and 
peace in the Valley; also organised 'Pad Yatra' from Uri to Qazigund; was first 
leader of the National Conference who reached with the Indian Army to capture 
Teetwal Tehsil headquarter of District Musbarabad; Director, Allahabad Bank, 
Wakf Committee Khwaja Mohinuddin Chisti and its Member Secretary and 
presently its Member; He was also Member of Anjuman-Meon-ul-Islam, Sopore;

AGA, SHRI SYED AHMED, (Cong.) Jammu & Kashmir-Baramulla—1971, Son of Shri Aga Syed Husain; b. at Srinagar, Kashmir, September, 1910; m. Smt. Zamrud Ahmad, August, 1934; 2 s. and 2 d.; was in the Kashmir Administrative Service uptil 1965; Member, State Public Service Commission, August 2, 1965 to January 1, 1967; held various offices under the State Government including Director of Food Department in which capacity he was also a Member-Secretary of Food Procurement and Distribution Committee; Registrar of Cooperatives; Director of Rural Development; Secretary to the Government in the Departments of Health, Education, Works and Power, Forests, Housing and Home etc.; Member, (i) Cooperative Committee, of the All India Handicrafts Board and, (ii) High Power Committee on Cooperative Movement (J&K); Member, Fourth Lok Sabha 1967-70; Member, (i) Public Accounts Committee; 1967-68, and 1968-69, (ii) Ashoka Mehta Khadi and Village Industries Committee, (iii) Central and State Haj Committee, (iv) All India Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, (v) Institute of Social Education, (vi) Executive Committee of the Congress Party in Parliament, 1969, re-elected in May, 1970, (vii) Steering Committee, All India Congress Forum for Socialist Action, (viii) Panel of Economic Policy for Plenary Session of Indian National Congress held in Bombay, (ix) All India Minority Cell and Zonal Organiser of A.l.C.C. for Minorities Cell in North India, (x) National Council of ISCUS, (xi) Indian Delegation to 25th Session of U.N., 1970 and (xii) Fourth Committee for Decolonization.

Social activities.—Interest in rural development and cooperatives, and in the uplift of the under privileged and weaker sections of the society.
