Medical College (K.E.M. Hospital); m. Dr. Uinta Datta Samant; 3 s. and 2 d.; Medical Practitioner; previously associated with Congress and other opposition parties; Member, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for 15 years.

Social activities:  Trade Union leader of about 15 to 20 lakh workers of Maharashtra and Gujarat as well as those working in engineering, chemical and textile units.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Volley-ball, sports and reading.
