Institution, Suri, Burdwan Raj College, Burdwan and Ronaldshay Medical School, Burdwan; Unmarried; Medical Practitioner; previously associated with the Indian National Congress: was Assistant Secretary, Burdwan District Congress Committee, 1940-42; Member, Birbhum District Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and its Secretariat Member; Member, Indian Medical Association (from Suri Branch); Member, (i) Third Lok Sabha, 1962-67, (ii) Fifth Lok Sabha, 1971-77 and (iii) Sixth Lok Sabha, 1977-79; Member, Estimates Committee, (i) Seventh Lok Sabha, 1980-84 and (ii) Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament; 1980-82 and House Committee, 1982-83.
