Section-A (Very Short Answer Type Questions)

Note: Answer all questions. As per the nature of the question you delimit your answer in one word, one sentence or maximum up to 30 words. Each question carries 1 mark. 6×1=06

  1. Name two general international encyclopedias.
  2. Name two journals which you have seen.
  3. Mention the year of publication of first edition of Encyclopedia Americana.
  4. Mention the frequency of  INB.
  5. Who is the publisher of India: A Reference Annual
  6. Name any Year Book

Section-B (Short Answer Questions)

Note: Answer any four questions. Each answer should not exceed 100 words. Each question carries 3 marks. 4×3=12

 

  1. Mentions the three parts of New Encyclopedia Britannica .
  2. List out the geographical sources of information.
  3. Name Encyclopedias one each from Social Sc., Sciences and Library Sc.
  4. Mention the languages included in INB.
  5. Describe need to evaluate a biographical source
  6. Mention names of three directories which are currently published.

Section ‘C’ (Long Answer Questions)

Note: Answer any two questions. You have to delimit your each answer maximum up to 400 words. Each question carries 06 marks. 2×6=12

  1. Define year book and directory. Evaluate one each of your choice.
  2. What do you mean by geographical reference sources? Mention their different types and discuss the use of maps and gazetteers.
  3. Describe reference value encyclopedia. Evaluate any one subject based encyclopedia.
  4. Describe bases of evaluating biographical sources. Evaluate India Who’s Who.
