Parameswari, May 28, 1944; 2 s. and 1 d.; Journalist and Writer; previously associated with Self-Respect Movement, Dravida Kazhagam; jailed ten times for political reasons from 1946—77 including detention under Maintenance of Internal Security Act, 1976-77; President, (i) Madras Auto rickshaw Drivers’ Cooperative Society limited, 1969—76, and (ii) Tamil Nadu Taxi and Auto-Drivers’ Union, 1969—76; Chairman, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, 1971—76; Municipal Councillor, Virudhunagar, 1946—56; Member, Legislative Assembly, Tamil Nadu, 1957—62 and 1967—71; Chairman, Estimates Committee, Tamil Nadu Assembly, 1968-69 visited Europe, England and Ireland as a delegate on Commonwealth Parliamentary Delegation in 1968.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Reading and writing.

Special interests:  Social work and play writing.

Publications:  About 40 story books in Tamil; Editor, “Thani Arasu” a Tamil Daily, 1958—63.

Travels abroad:  Europe, U.K. and Ireland, 1968; Singapore and Malaysia, 1968 and 1974 and Thailand 1972.
