Founder of communist and Kishan Movement in the State leader of Prajamandal movement in Ex-Princely states of Ranpur Khandapara and Nayagarh. After Independence again went to jail in 1949 and 1964. Undertook hunger strikes for 43 days inside prison. As editor of Oriya weekly `Nua Duniya` visited USSR in 1964-65 as a member of Indian Journalist delegation. One of the pioneers of socialist movement of Orissa when congress socialist party was formed in the state in 1934 became its first President. A revolutionary and social reformer.
