Treasurer of the AINEC; helped Tunisia, Algeria, Zambia in securing a large measure of help and support for their liberation movement from India; attended memorable SFAX convention of Tunisia in 1955 where she was decorated with “Nishan-e-Iftikhar”; represented Indian National Congress at the Independence celebrations of Zambia at the special invitation of President Kenneth Kaunda; represented India at a U.N. Seminar on Women’s Role in the Economic life of Developing Countries held at Moscow in 1970.
Social activities.—Actively associated with the Women Wing of the Congress; Dy. Director-General, Women’s Voluntary Services Citizen Central Council; trained many women in the country in civil defence; Secretary-General, Indian Society for International Friendship and Understanding.
Favourite pastime and recreation.—Gardening, embroidery and knitting.
Special interests.—Welfare of the weaker sections of the population—the slum dwellers, the women workers, the Scheduled Castes and otherminorities; education and welfare of children specially of slum dwellers and foreign affairs.
