Tribes)—1971, Son of Shri Ravjibhai Parmar; b. at Village Karamba, Taluk Jhalod, District Panchmahals, September 15, 1920; ed. at Mirakhedi Rastriya Ashram, Dohad New High School, Jhalod New English School, Sir Ranjit Singhji High School Deogad Baria, Gujarat College, Ahmedabad, Sir Lallubhai Shah Law College, Ahmedabad and Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Bombay; m. Srimati Valiben Parmar; May 31, 1944; 4 s. and 4 d.; Agriculturist and social worker; while a student, participated in Independence Movement in 1942 and suffered imprisonment for eight months; joined the Bhil Seva Mandal, Dohad in 1944; was Additional Circle Auditor, Mandla District, 1945-47 and organised multipurpose cooperative societies for the welfare of Adivasis; served as Backward Class Welfare Officer, 1948-60; was P.A. to Director, Social Welfare, Gujarat State, 1960-61 and then resigned; started his own agricultural work; has been serving as Honorary Supervisor, Bhil Seva Mandal since 1964 and look after the welfare activities of the Mandal, especially the Backward Class Hostels and Ashrams; Member of Panchmahals District Panchayat in 1963; Chairman of the Cooperation and Small Industries Committee, Panchmahals for two years till March, 1967; Chairman, Karamha Group Seva Sahkari Mandli Ltd.; President, All India Railways Ministerial Staff Association, Dohad Branch, Dohad; Member Fourth Lok Sabha 1967-70; served as Member (i) Committee on Private Members Bills and Resolutions, (ii) Joint Committee on Contempt of Courts Bill (iii) Joint Committee on Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill.

Social activities:  Engaged in prohibition work and removal of untouchability.

Hobbies.—Gardening and agricultural work.

Favourite pastime and recreation.—Walking in the evening; reading Bhagwad Gita and practising yoga.
