Faridpur, April 5, 1924; ed. at Serampore College, Serampore, Vidyasagar College, Calcutta, and University College of Science, Calcutta University; Married; Lecturer in Physics, Serampore College, Serampore; Member, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee; Secretary, (i) Hooghly District Congress Committee, (ii) Bamunari Free Primary School, (iii) Congress Municipal Association, Serampore; Vice-President, Hooghly District Cooperative Transport Society; Member of the Managing Committees of the (i) Kanaipur Higher Secondary School, (ii) Bamunari Junior High School and (iii) Serampore; Netaji Vidyalaya (for girls); Member, Fourth Lok Sabha, 1967-70.

Social activities:  Actively associated with the Social and rural reconstruction programmes of the Congress since student days such as development works, clubs, libraries, youth organisations, village reconstruction, construction of roads through voluntary organisations, establishment of schools, campaigns for removal of illiteracy; cooperative movements; connected with a number of social organisations.

Hobby:  Reading.
