Khukhundoo, December 10, 1906; ed. at Government High School, Deoria, High School, Gorakhpur, St. Andrew’s College, Gorakhpur and University of Allahabad; m. Shrimati Sheela Rai, 1949; 3 s. and 3 d.; Agriculturist; first imprisoned in 1932 while still a student of Allahabad University and again from 1940-46 during the freedom struggle, in Deoli Detention Camp and other prisons; Member, A.I.C.C.; Chairman, (i) Reception Committee, All India Sugar Mills Workers Conference, Gorakhpur, 1938; (ii) Reception Committee, Northern India Sugar Cane Growers’ Conference, Ramkala, U.P., 1954, (iii) Reception Committee Gandak Ghagra Tapti Flood Control Conference, Padrauna, U.P., 1956; Secretary, All India Sugar Mills Workers Committee, 1938-40; Senior Vice-President, District Board, Deoria, 1948-52; Vice-President, Deoria District Congress Committee, 1950-57 and 1961-71; Member. Social activities.—Secretary, (i) Students’ Association, Gorakhpur, 1926-28, (ii) Sir Sunder Lal Hostel, Allahabad University, 1929-30; organised Youth League, Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Allahabad, and U.P. Provincial Youth League and was Member of its Executive Committee for five terms.

Hobby.—Gardening.

Favourite pastime and recreation.—Reading and writing.

Special interests.—Rendering assistance to those who suffered during the freedom struggle and their families.

Publications.—”Oadar Ya Rashtriya Lahar” (Hindi) and “Krantivad” (Hindi).
