Shrimati Shanti Devi, March, 1959; 1 d.; Agriculturist and Social Worker; imprisoned five times for taking part in student and Kisan movements since 1954; Member, National Committee, Samajvadi Yuvajan Sabha; Secretary, Bihar State Samajvadi Yuvajan Sabha; Joint Secretary, Bihar S.S.P.; Ex-Secretary, Saharsa District P.S.P.

Social activities:  Founder-Secretary, Nimali Degree College, Saharsa; also helped in the foundation of several primary and secondary schools; organised Shramdan movements for construction of bunds, roads, etc.; launched movement against untouchability.
