MISRA, SHRI HARINATHA, M.A. [Congress (I)—Bihar, Darbhanga, 1980]  s. of late Pandit Babuaji Misra; b. at Koilakh Village and P.O., Madhubani District, 1917; ed. at Calcutta University; Unmarried; Political, and Social Worker; joined Congress as a whole-time worker in January, 1942, Cabinet Minister, Government of Bihar, 1952-57 and 1962-67; President, Rajendra Kushta Sevashram, Mairwa, Sivan, District (Bihar) since 1938 (nominated by the first President of India); Member, Bihar Legislative Assembly, 1946-77; Speaker, Bihar Legislative Assembly, 1972—77; presently Chairman, Committee of Privileges.  

Favourite pastime and recreation : Music. 

Special interests : Reading and writing.  

Publications : (i) “The Kosi Problem”; (ii) “Mithila University at Darbhanga”; and (iii) “Development of North Bihar” (under preparation).
