LYNGDOH, SHRI HOPING STONE, U.A., (Meghalaya—Shillong—1977):  s. of late Hajur Shon; b. at Nonglait Village, Khasi Hills District, March 15, 1929; ed. at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong; unmarried; Agriculturist, School Teacher and Social Worker; Member of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party; previously associated with the Eastern India Tribal Union since 1957, it was renamed  All-Party Hill Leaders Conference in 1960; Member, United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, 1957 to 1972; Member, (i) Assam Legislative Assembly, 1962—68 and (ii) Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, 1972—77.

Social activities:  Actively associated with educational organisations and their programmes.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Visiting places, hunting and public speaking.
