Shrimati Kusum Devi, 1925; 2 s.; Agriculturist and Politician; previously associated with Revolutionary Socialist Republican Party and Kisan Sabha; Associated with the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association an all-India revolutionary organisation and was convicted to life-imprisonment in the Lahore Conspiracy Case; Served imprisonment in Punjab, Bihar, Bengal and Andaman Cellular Jails; was in detention in 1941 as individual satyagrahi and again from 1942 to 46 as detenue; President, Thana Congress Committee, Bagaha, 1947-53; Secretary, District Congress Committee, Champaran, 1955-57 and its President, 1958-60; Secretary, (i) Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, 1960-62 and (ii) Independence Day Celebrations Bettiah Sub-Divisional Committee, 1947; Member, (i) District Bharat Sewak Samaj, Champaran, (ii) District Cane Advisory Committee, 1957-62, (iii) District Development Committee since 1961, (iv) All India Congress Committee since 1961, (v) Third Lok Sabha, 1962-67, (vi) Fourth Lok Sabha, 1967-70, (vii) Estimates Committee, 1969-70; Chairman, Estimates Committee, 1970 and 1971-72; was on the Panel of Chairmen, Fourth Lok Sabha; re-nominated on the Panel of Chairmen, 1971.
