Bijnor 1895; ed. at Government High School, Bijnor and Muir Central College, Allahabad; m. Shrimati Shanti Devi, 1913; 1 S. and 3 D.; Resigned professorship of a College in 1921 and took part in the country’s fight for freedom under Congress right up from 1919 and was sentenced to long terms of imprisonment in 1921, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1941 and 1942; Has been President, D.C.C., Mathura, and Member, Uttar Pradesh P.C.C.; Took part in the constructive activities of the Congress; Chairman. Vrindaban Municipality (U.P.) from 1931 to 1953, having been re-elected at every general election; Member of the U.P. Legislative Assembly, 1937, and 1946-1952; Member, First Lok Sabha.
Social activities: Harijan uplift; amelioration of women’s status in society; uplift of kisans.
Hobby: Walking.
