School and Surendranath College, Calcutta; Intermediate standard; m. Smt. Gita Dawn, July 1947; 5 s.; Political and Social Worker; previously associated with undivided Congress and Congress (O); suffered imprisonment for 18 months in 1975—77 during emergency.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Journalism; travelling and cards playing.

Special interests:  Composition of Bengali poems and writing of features on agriculture.

Publications:  Editor of a Bengali Weekly “Gariber Rusta”.
