N.  [Congress (I)—Uttar Pradesh, Bilhaur, 1980]  s. of late Shri Ram Lal Tripathi; b. at Khalagaon Village, Derapur Tahsil, Kanpur District; Matriculate; married; 5 s. and 1 d.;  Journalist, Writer, Agriculturist and Political and Social Worker; previously associated with Indian National Congress, 1930-48, Praja Socialist Party, 1948-75; and again joined Congress in 1976; participated in freedom movement and went to jail six times.  

Social activities : Widow remarriage, anti-child marriage, anti-dowry campaigns and uplift of Harijans.  

Special interests : Journalism.  

Publications : Edited ‘Jaipraja Nayak’ (weekly).
