SINGH, SHRI RAMDEO, Janata, (Bihar—Maharajganj—1977): s. of late Shri Vaidya Nath Singh; b. at Sarout Village, Saran District, December 12, 1916; ed. at Sisvan Haray Ram Brahmchari High School, Siswan District, Bihar, Matriculate; m. Smt. Salehra Devi; 3 s. and 2 d.; Agriculturist and social worker; Previously associated with the Congress, Congress Socialist Party, Socialist Party, Praja Socialist Party, Samyukta Socialist Party, and Socialist Party; Took active part in the Freedom Movements in 1930 and 1942; Sentenced for 19 years imprisonment in 1942 but was released after 41/2 years due to general amnesty; Detained 7 times by the Congress Government for participating in Satyagrahas on different occasions; Member, District Board, Saran, 1951—57; Editor, ‘Jan Nad’, a Hindi Weekly published from Sisvan, Bihar in 1962; Honorary Secretary, Sisvan Chhapara Central Cooperative Bank since 1967; Director, (i) Bihar State Cooperative Bank, Patna since 1968, and (ii) Bihar State Land Development Bank, Patna since 1967; Member, Bihar Legislative Assembly, 1957—61 and 1967—69 and was Chief Whip of Bihar Government; Member, Fifth Lok Sabha, 1971—77.

Special interests: Cooperative Movement and agriculture.
