MAITI, SHRI SACHINDRA NATH, Bangla Congress, (West Bengal-Midnapore-1967);  s. of late Shri Upendranath Maiti, b. at Midnapore town, September 25, 1901; ed. at Midnapore, Calcutta and England; unmarried; imprisoned in 1930 in connection with the Salt Satyagraha; arrested in connection with the murder of Mr. Reddy—the first of the three assassinated magistrates of Midnapore – acquitted and detained from 1931—38; arrested again after the disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and detained as a Security prisoner 1941—45; President, Midnapore Youth, Association, Vice-President, Midnapore District Congress Committee and Member, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee, and A.I.C.C. for several years; Resigned from Congress and joined “Bangala Congress”.

Hobbies:  Reading.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Table tennis Ping-Pong and travelling.

Special interests:  Village uplift, travels and study of law.
