Smt. Shanta Agarwal February 16, 1953; 2 s. and d.; Advocate; previously associated with Bharatiya Jan Sangh since 1951; was detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act during the emergency for 19 months from June 26, 1975 to January 25, 1977; Minister of State for Finance, Government of India, August 14, 1977 to July 28, 1979; President, Rajasthan  Jan Sangh, 1965-67; Member, All India Working Committee, Jan Sangh, 1975-77; was Secretary and Vice-President, Rajasthan State Council for Child Welfare; President, Agarwal College, Jaipur, 1967-70; Member, Jaipur Municipal Council, 1956-58; Member (i) Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, 1957-72 and also Member of various Assembly Committees and (ii) Member, Sixth Lok Sabha, 1977-79; Attended Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference held in Kuala-lampur, 1971 and Colombo Plan Conference held in Kathmandu, 1977, Washington, 1978 and London, 1979.
